The suggestions for dealing with dissociation that have been given thus far represent only a small sampling of the kinds of actions we can take to restore a more healthy reality-groundedness to our world. Many more ideas are likely to arise, as understanding of contemporary dissociation becomes more widespread.
We can expect to require a steady stream of fresh insights and proposals, as clever cognitive manipulators continue to find ever more novel and resourceful ways to shape our perceptions in the service of their own ends. But we cannot expect these to come from our accustomed sources of information and opinion.
The small number of mega-voices currently heard through the media represent a highly consolidated source in what is essentially a top-down information flow. It is the nature of dissociation for such sources to propagate "accepted" virtual reality, and tend to overlook the more literal kind.
In order to keep society reliably in touch with literal reality, we ourselves have to become viable sources of information and insight.
