New electronic forums on the Internet or videocassette would enable candidates to speak directly to us as voters, rather than having to go through intermediaries in the news media.

I doubt that I’m the only one who gets frustrated with the questions reporters ask, or the things they focus on in their campaign coverage.

It’s not that we don’t need reporters around to ask tough questions and expose whatever untruths the candidates may be trying to foist off on us. We just don’t need them to be our filters and monitors all the time.
