Why limit our explorations
of profound matters to one institutional source?
For each religion to claim it has
the answers to everything
that’s important to know, across the broad and deep spectrum of human
questions and concerns, and to admonish its followers to shun all other
potential sources of such insight, strikes me as serving no one’s
interests but those of priestly classes looking to gain an undeserved
degree of control and, to use a more pragmatic modern term, job security.
I also think we’d be well-advised to bring belief systems and practices beyond just Abrahamic or other prayer-based ones into a broader synthesis.
