As for the world’s other great religions—such as Judaism and
Sikhism—the only reason I haven’t suggested specific ways they might
contribute to our spiritual understanding is that I don’t know
enough about them.
My son tells me, though, that the way I
view evil—as not an entity or motivating force in its own right, but
simply a mental construct that enables us to ascribe truly evil actions
to something safely outside the innate drives which even the best of us
have—is pretty close to how the Baha’i faith sees things.
Also,
when he tells me that Baha’is regard the state of being which we
commonly call “life” as just preparation for another state that we
can’t possibly imagine, I flatter myself that the impressions I’ve
formed of souls might be a small first step in that direction.
