The car press is an arbiter of cooties in matters of styling.
One of the things car magazines have begun doing in the past few years is to unabashedly offer styling analyses. I suppose this is good in one sense: at least they're finally comfortable coming out and talking candidly about eye appeal, instead of pretending that they and other serious car people don't care about it (which, of course, they always have).
But in a more direct sense, don't I already know for myself if I like the way a car looks? To pay much attention to a magazine's opinion on this subject, I'd have to be pretty insecure about my taste, and very much concerned with what other people might think of my car.
Or to put it differently, I'd have to be concerned about having the cooties.
