Afterimages


The movie stopped.

No more wash of liquid colors:
only blank incandescent yellow
illuminating
rows of seats with gum stuck to them,
popcorn containers on the floor.

--Necessity.
Necessity of knowing
there were still such things as theater seats,
or of somehow
carving light-images
into full-color three dimensions.

The actress said,
"No, come in...

"Come and live in the picture."
