Political campaigning has become almost entirely a matter of manufactured images.

We’ve reached a point where today, almost all we can hope to glean about candidates comes either from sound bites of 20 seconds or less, from "spin," or from completely stage-managed image advertising.

When all we have to base our choices on is this fluff, how can we possibly believe we know anything about our office seekers, or what they would do to the country if elected?
