Commentary on Artists' Ability to Offset the Power of Advertisers and the Media

	The arts already wield considerable cognitive power--if we include the "lower" or applied kind.
	"Fine" artists' efforts to distance themselves from the more commercial kind have diminished their power.
	Today's artists have a historic opportunity to make a difference in the social order.
	If we want the arts to have social power, we can't be stuffy about who gets to participate.

Although they may doubt it, artists have real potential to begin rectifying the balance of cognitive social power.
