Artist's Notes

There’s something archetypal of small towns everywhere in this image.  I couldn’t tell you the name of the town—it was just someplace we came upon while driving through the countryside with my then-inlaws, who lived on the Tennessee River an hour or so outside of Memphis.

Oddly, the first time I displayed this painting, in a suburb of Los Angeles, a couple passing by recognized the town.  (It’s somewhere near Shiloh.)
