Artist's Notes

This painting was one of my first attempts at cutting loose with a big wide brush and a casual approach to what I was depicting.  I still like it.

I'll never forget the moment when it all came together for me.  I had actually been too close to it while I was painting. Then I stepped back to assess what I had done�and it all just fell into place.  It was as if I'd been following some tedious, obscure set of furniture-assembly instructions, and then suddenly realized what it was that I'd been building.
