Artist's Notes

This scene somehow suggests a Victorian-era story to me. 

Why are we out back in the shadows near the shrubbery? Who’s inside?  Is there a danger they might see something?  What?   

Is there more than one person out here? 

Are the people of the opposite sex?  Is there something illicit, or at least secret, going on?

I can almost hear hushed urgency of the voices.
