As for the writing and other content on this site, although a large chunk of it is my own, over the years I've also welcomed a number of other people to share their work here, and Notes in a Bottle is richer for it.

You'll find material on all kinds of topics here, but there are two overarching principles behind everything:

The first is that we deal in real people's real observations about the real world.

The second is that we enjoy demonstrating that there's a lot more that's worth reading than just what you see in the major media.
