Most of you have become accustomed to the tidy emptiness of the state’s managed news—a narcoleptically bland admixture of official pronouncements, ribbon cuttings for new projects, and self-congratulation on endeavors brought to completion.

Our American news media do not traffic in this sort of blather. We get it instead from our employers, in what are known as company newsletters.
