SYNOPSIS:  It has many costs beyond consumer prices.  We need to consider them more carefully.

We’re in the grip of a relentless drive toward corporate gigantism.  Hardly a week goes by without our hearing of some major corporation being devoured by an even larger one.  When this occurs, we seem to all collectively draw in our breath, almost instinctively sensing something ominous.  Yet the only objections anybody ever seems able to articulate have to do with effects on consumer prices.

I believe there’s  a good deal more at stake.  Gigantism in any aspect of our environment doesn't seem healthy for us.
