Artist's Notes

This is a kind of companion piece to the summer scene, also an early sketch out of my imagination whose simplicity tends to enhance its evocative qualities

In addition to the rust and purplish tones among the foliage, I like the way the ripples in the water tend to suggest the movement of a small boat toward the shore.

This is the time of day when I can sense the fish getting ready to bite.
