Artist's Notes

This was another scene spotted in a drive through Western Tennessee with my former inlaws.

Weathered and scarred and “blind” though this old truck might be, it was still apparently in use, serving some necessary function in a little riverfront town with honor and dignity.

It was a far cry from the flashy designer trucks you see on the road nowadays, with their expensive alloy wheels and bed liners guarding against even the possibility of a scratch, in the event they might actually be used to haul something.

This truck’s scrapes and bangs and rusted patches were like the character etched in the face of an old person who’s seen a lot of life.  I was drawn to it immediately.
